Cambridge Cats U13 travelled to Stevenage Scorpions for their first competitive fixture and came away with a 15 point win.
Cambridge demonstrated real composure on offensive scoring 51 points, developing opportunities through excellent spacing and movement. The team was led in scoring by Pablo Rodrigo with 20 points. There was also evidence of real leadership from senior players, Luke Tipaldi and Darragh Leneghan, this real helped our young big men Alex Vaskin and Joel Thomson to dominate inside and influence the game.
Cats restricted Scorpions to 36 points with superb defence by Matthew Bradnam, Ralph Gasgoina, and Samuel Miekle. George Hollis who was dominant on the boards leading to excellent transition offence.
Finally a special mention for Coach Jeff who has joined from the USA and is really focusing the boys on the fundamentals of Basketball, his impact in a few short weeks was clearly visible in the boys performance today.

The second period Cats upped their inside game and big points from Robinson and Haslam gave Cats a 11 point lead at the half. There was a solid and assured performance from Noah Petrovic taking control in the third to end with a season high 24 points.
Scorpions rallied to level the score early in the fourth but a change in the cats defence resulted in breakaway points for Haslam and Robinson saw cats to retake the lead and close out the game. This is an improving Cats 16s team who continue to raise the performance bar each week.
